Big Bad Jim

This is the story of a man named Jim

He wore a badge and lived below the bridge

One day the town folk came to say

Hey big Jim we need you now

The town is suffering, taxes are high

Stores are empty. home prices are down

Run for Mayor we all say, do it Jim

Big Jim

Big Bad Jim

Big Jim

So Jim turned in his badge ran for Mayor

He carried the day and won in a big way

The town celebrated and they all shouted

Big Jim
Big Jim
Big Bad Jim
Big Jim

As soon as he got in he was heard to say

Development will be the only way

Budget hole too big, revenues we need

Got to build up in a smart way

So he told little Joe to scour the land

Find developers who want to build and stay

We got to show them Bayonne is the place

Tell them that they mustn’t be afraid

So little Joe brought them in

From this place, that place they all did come

Big Jim told them this is the place

For you’ll to build cause its okay

But they said we tried before

Town’s too closed, let no one in

So we’d all walk out door

So why is it different now

Jim told them I’m in charge

We’re going use all the tools to get you to stay

You can make some money that’s okay

But my town’s going to grow don’t you know

A new era of glory for good old Bayonne

People will move in, jobs for all

Stores will open, a ferry coming to town

They said to Jim count us in and then said

Big Jim
Big Jim
Big Bad Jim
Big Jim

The critics all cried, way too much

Beautiful buildings are okay, but not right there

We don’t understand all these deals

Give us an empty lot though we’ll still complain

Cause we can’t be happy no matter what

Don’t fix the budget so we’ll complain some more

Raise the taxes and no new stores

And the critics shouted out just go away

Big Jim

Jim said to them you are so wrong

Our people deserve the best and that I will deliver

New hotels, 2700 jobs

Great places to live, art and music in town

We now on the map no turning back

I’ll take the heat and lead the way

Because I live for the future and your stuck in the past

My Bayonne will move forward and then you can say

Big Jim
Big Jim
Big Bad Jim
Big Jim

The story is still be told but this I know

Big Jim will help Bayonne to grow

From all around people will say

How did you do it tell us the way

We went to be like you tell us now

And everyone of us with pardonable pride

Will shout from the rooftops and as one

We will simply say its all thanks to …
