Mayor Davis and his Council Team first term is almost over. Have they delivered for Bayonne? Let’s see:
- They have ignited a development boom in Bayonne that we have never experienced before
- They have brought two development plans for hotels to the table
- They have reduced the City’s annual budget hole
- They have turned Broadway into a mini Rockefeller center during Christmas
- They have stabilized property taxes
- They have brought back the Hometown Fair
- They have established the Bergen Point Fall Festival
- They have introduced various new ethnic celebrations
- They have expanded the arts and music throughout the City
- They have instituted an uniformed police presence in every school
- They have beautified Broadway with banners, flowers, and art
- They have brought in over 200 new businesses to our shopping districts
- They have begun making a new ferry service a reality
- They have expanded medical services within our City
- They have renovated several of our parks
- They have created the environment for Lincoln Equities to create 2700 jobs in the City
- They have broken ground for a new Costco
- They have turned a generation old promise of development at the old MOT into a reality
- They have expanded recreation programs such as Buddy Baseball
- They have created events such as Zombies on Broadway and Musical Mondays at the Museum
- They have honored our Veterans by creating the Hall of Heroes in City Hall
- They have stood up for religious rights in our City and fought against bigotry
- They have put Bayonne on the map as the new “Next” for being a great place to live
- They have signed financial tax agreements that will bring in $516 million over the life of the agreements compared to $51 million if the properties were left as is
- They have made Bayonne a place where developers want to come to, as opposed to a place that developers wanted to avoid
- They were able to arrange for the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra to perform in Bayonne
- They are dedicating a visible space on Broadway to honor Douglas O’Neil, the last MIA in Hudson County (event is this Thursday at Avenue E and Broadway)
- They have achieved in turning the old vacant Best Foods Factory into a planned hi-tech warehousing facility
So does the Davis team deserve re-election? Yes – Yes – Yes!
