Mayor Davis and his Council Team are leading a true renaissance on Broadway. Several more of the art on utility boxes have been unveiled and two more bronze sculptures have been installed. The on installed by the 26th Street Post Office was a huge hit The statue is of an elderly gentleman sitting on a bench and reading. Several people sat on the bench and posed for photos. Dozens of others came, looked, and took photos. Everyone was commenting on how Broadway is changing – for the better. A couple of folks questioned others as to how could anyone be opposed to art on Broadway? The simple answer is that complainers complain, haters hate, and some let politics supersede what is good for the City.
Another statue was installed in front of Horace Mann school on Broadway. The statue is of two young children talking on a bench. When the students were dismissed from school they were enthralled by the sculpture and wondered how did it get there. They were all sitting on the bench and were filled with joy.
Also saw the Mayor and his Council Team walking on Broadway checking out the art on the utility boxes. I hope that they were as impressed with the art as the public is. I applaud the Mayor and the City Council for their work in helping to turn Broadway into a shopping and dining destination for both out-of-town visitors and our current residents.
